Be Scared Every Day

Don't you want to be ready? There will be times that you ask yourself, "Am I ready for this?" and you will wish you were for sure.

Here is the way to be prepared to the best of your ability.

Be scared every single day.

On a daily basis, I know you feel the butterflies in your belly. They may not be loud, or annoying, or motivating, or demanding. They may just be there. You feel them.

Most times, when it is a manageable fear, you can go either way. Address the fear or pass it by. Starting today, do the hard stuff.

Yesterday I had to make a really tough decision at the office. I felt the fear and I could have taken the safe route, avoiding the discomfort of the situation. You are not necessarily running from something if you you feel the fear and you avoid it. Sometimes avoiding it does not have major consequences .... but that is part of the problem.

Then one day, something big happens and you really feel scared. Think of the worst like 911, possible layoffs, health issues in your family, or maybe a tough decision about your marriage. When it is something big, you can't avoid it. You have to deal with it.

That is when you wish you had practiced being scared and moving forward feeling the fear. With practice you can be in charge of the fear instead of it being in charge of you.
